The Henry David Thoreau Room
(First Floor of the Main House)

Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) was known for his belief in Americanism which he comprised in his work. Old World charm is the key to this room with a queen-size bed adorned with a hand sewn quilt, original wide board Chestnut flooring, a private bath, a fireplace and two Queen Anne chairs.  Conveniently located off the Keeping Room and near to the kitchen, this room is perfect when you want to enjoy one of Michael's afternoon snacks with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate; a wonderful way to settle in to your relaxing time away.
